
Mr. Pinkerton's consulting activities focus on the transportation industry and have included strategic, marketing, operating and financial analyses in all modes of transportation; advising on restructuring and privatization programs in eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine and Brazil; logistics studies for manufacturers and retailers; planning systems; and merger, acquisition and liquidation projects. Most recently, he helped restructure a large U.S. rail car manufacturer, prepared a logistics analysis for locating a new automobile manufacturing facility, provided strategic advice for a U.S. trucking group and analyzed the competitive effects of rail mergers.
Mr. Pinkerton has provided expert testimony before various regulatory bodies, including the Maritime Subsidy Board and the Massachusetts Insurance Commission, and in arbitration proceedings. He has also worked closely with counsel in bankruptcy and valuation proceedings. Before joining PHB, Mr. Pinkerton was chief operating officer of one of the largest intermodal firms in North America and director of asset valuation for the United States Railway Association.
He received a B.S. in industrial management from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business Administration, Harvard University.
