John R. Phillips
Principal

John Phillips specializes in the valuation of businesses and securities and in the determination of damages in business litigation. He has analyzed firms in many industries, including auto retailing, furniture manufacturing, gambling casinos, gasoline retailing, greeting card publishing, HMOs, hospitals, home exercise equipment, iron and steel foundries, medical products, movie studios, oil and gas exploration, oil tools, produce wholesaling, real estate, savings and loans, solar power, securities brokerage and talent agencies. His published articles concern valuing celebrity intangible assets, determining interest damages in contract and tort litigation, the use of graphics to illustrate damages and the use of marketability discounts to value controlling interests.

Prior to joining PHB, Mr. Phillips was a senior manager at Freeman & Mills, Incorporated. Freeman & Mills and PHB combined their consulting practices in 1994. Previously, he was a senior manager in the valuation and the litigation services practices of Price Waterhouse.

Mr. Phillips is a Certified Public Accountant. He received a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. in finance from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
