Gerard J. McCullough

Gerard McCullough is professor of applied economics and director of the Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Minnesota. He is also visiting professor at the Institute of Industrial Economics in Toulouse, France. Dr. McCullough is an expert in the use of economic models to analyze and predict behavior in transportation markets and in other network industries. He has been a consultant to railroads, airlines, trucking firms, petroleum refiners, electric and natural gas producers, as well as various federal agencies and the World Bank. His work has included both litigation consulting and management consulting. Earlier in his career, Dr. McCullough was special assistant to the administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration in Washington, D.C. He also taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served as deputy director of the MIT Center for Transportation Studies. His writings on economics and transportation have appeared in leading popular and scholarly publications, including the New York Times and The Brookings Papers on Economic Activity.

Dr. McCullough holds an B.A. from Georgetown University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
